Here’s a practical, actionable guide.

The Most Important Vastu Principle: Get the Plot Right First

Vastu assessment starts before construction — at the plot selection stage. Ideal plot characteristics:

• Shape: Square or rectangular plots are considered most auspicious. Avoid triangular, L-shaped, or irregularly shaped plots
• Slope: Plot sloping towards North or East is preferred — allows water to flow away from the building in the right direction
• Road-facing direction: East-facing or North-facing plots are traditionally preferred for residential use
• Extensions: Northeast extensions (corner cuts toward NE) are considered very positive

Main Door Direction — The Most Common Vastu Question

The main entrance direction depends on your plot’s road-facing direction:

Kitchen Placement

The kitchen is one of the most Vastu-sensitive zones in a home:

• Best location: Southeast corner of the house (fire element zone)
• Cooking direction: The cook should ideally face East while cooking
• Acceptable alternative: Northwest kitchen with cook facing North
• Avoid: Kitchen directly opposite main door, or kitchen in Northeast or Southwest
• Sink placement: Northeast side of kitchen (water element)

Master Bedroom
